Now this might not make any sense, but I discovered some of the very, very best sounds are absolutely free. Legally free, Freeware. Sometimes they are commercial programs that have been re-released as Freeware, usually because the makers have gone on to work on other projects or companies or products. And the sound they make is not a compromise, at all. I've tried all the leading high-priced alternatives, they don't sound any better. They sound great, but do does this Freeware.
